People started to settle in the Nile rear or around 7000 B.C. The people found animals and built homes directly by the banks of the Nile.

Along the way, they started writing hieroglyphics, both lowercase and uppercase.

The pyramids of Giza have names: Kharafas, Khufus, and the Great Sphinx.

Ahmose was a pharaoh who was in charge of Egypt from1550 to 1525 BCE. Around 1550 Ahmose kicked another pharaoh out of upper and lower Egypt.

Hatshepsut is a female pharaoh who ruled Egypt from 1473 BC to 158 BC. She was supposed to be in charge for Thumious III but he was too young. She claimed herself as a pharaoh.

Ramses the Second was a pharaoh who ruled for a total of 66 years from 1279 to 1213. He has many temples and statues put up around Egypt and is known for being a military leader.

The Persians came from the east near Egypt. They ruled Egypt from 625 BC until 322 BC.

3500 BCE – People begin to settle in the Nile river valley. They are mostly farmers.
2700 BCE – The fist stone pyramid is built in ancient Egypt, the “step pyramid” at Saqqara.
2200 BCE – The government in ancient Egypt collapses and for 150 years, upper and lower Egypt have different rulers.
1900 BCE – The temple of Karnak is a large complex, although the first parts of this complex were built in the Middle Kingdom.
1800 BCE – Nubia has valuable natural resources such as jewelry. The Egyptians try to control Nubia so they can take their resources.
1700 BCE – The Hyksos are a group of people from the Levant. They settle at the end of the Middle Kingdom.
1550 BCE – Ahmose throws the Hyksos out of Egypt and becomes pharaoh.
1500 BCE – Hatshepsut rules ancient Egypt until 1473 BCE.
