Do you love food and cooking, and perhaps aspire to open your own business as a chef? Carolyn Priemer is the Clevelander to contact if so. She is Director of Cleveland Culinary Launch & Kitchen. She helps people start their own food business. CCL & kitchen has really great food there too. Cleveland Culinary Launch and Kitchen is a commercial shared kitchen space with the goal of bringing success to your food related business.

Carolyn is making a difference in Cleveland by giving training and help to people who always wanted to start their own food business, but did not know how or have the resources. The kitchen is where people are trained to cook. The company’s mission is to “provide opportunities for connection and collaboration between individuals, businesses, and organizations, in the Northeast Ohio local food web.”

What inspired Carolyn to open this kitchen is that when she was younger, she worked on a farm & she got really interested in where her food came from. Carolyn moved back to Cleveland and she saw that there was a kitchen that wasn’t being used, so she decided to fix it up and start a food business!

Carolyn said some advantages of working as the Director at CCL & kitchen is that she gets to “meet a lot of new nice people.” Some disadvantages are that she “has to spend more time on the computer than she really wants too and she does not get a lot of time to be in the kitchen.”

Something interesting that happened at her job was, one time in the middle of the night Carolyn had to drive back to the kitchen because the “electricity went out and everyone had all their food prepared for the Shaker market the next day.” So she has to rush to save what she could for this event.

In the future Carolyn hopes to have a store to sell everyone’s products. She also hopes more people will come & join. If you love food, and want to start your own business you should go & join CCL & kitchen.

Some advice Carolyn gave us was that “don’t let your fears hold you back and that is it okay to be afraid because that is natural. Life goes by whether you like it or not. You are going to get to 20, 30, 40 etc., so just go for it.”
