Julie Hill a very hard working and modern-day renaissance contributor here in Cleveland, Ohio. Hill is Vice President of PNC bank and works with an organization called Engage! Cleveland. Hill “loves her job and has a lot of responsibilities because it’s hard work,” but she gets it done. Hill’s job is to help businesses grow and expand, minimize their cost, and to help them achieve more.  So far, she has helped hundreds of company improve and expand in Cleveland.

Hill tries her best to contribute to the city and make it a better place to be. Hill is part of Engage! Cleveland and serves on the board of directors. “The mission of Engage! Cleveland is to retain and attract talent in Cleveland.” Engage! Cleveland gives people opportunities such as jobs and connects them to activities that take place in Cleveland. Engage! Cleveland likes to attract young professionals {between the ages of 20-40} to come to our city for work and to live. Hill said “you can be successful by staying in Cleveland” and it is obvious that she firmly believes this because she loves this city. Ms. Hill loves Cleveland because she said “the people here are friendly, and you can do so many things at affordable prices”.

As a child Hill was not thinking she would grow up and become Vice President of a bank. As a child she wanted to become an “artist and make jewelry.” She said ‘’I didn’t realize the business connection to my interest then.” When she was younger she was admittedly shy, but now she’s a very bright and outgoing person who is not afraid of speaking to new people because she does it on regular basis at work. However Hill recalled that she “really didn’t do/try new things as a child.” Some advice to her younger self would be “try new things even if you think you won’t to be good at them, take opportunities even if you’re hesitant“. Hill was born in raised in Orange Village, Ohio. Hill embodies Ohio and Cleveland pride and that is evident in the fact that she was born and raised here, attended Ohio’s Miami University and later received her MBA (Master in Business Administration) from John Carroll University.  Unlike many young Cleveland professionals, Hill has committed to staying in this area and helping others like herself find employment and connections so that they can stay in this great city too!

Even though Hill loves her job there are some disadvantages and advantages about it. An advantage about Hill’s job is that she “loves meeting new people that have positive things to say about Cleveland.” A disadvantage Hill can’t bare to hear is the “negative talk some people have to say about Cleveland such as, why don’t we use the lake fronts more often”. She doesn’t like to hear the doubts about Cleveland; she likes to hear the positive that we can do to make Cleveland become a better place.

Hill’s job is challenging, she even says “it’s a challenge to balance my job, my cause, and my life”. It’s a challenge because of fast pace of the business world and the additional responsibilities. She admits, “time management is very important.” Hill’s job can make a difference when she helps other companies be able to grow and make progress so that more businesses could have partner to provide a better services and help increase products.

In the future, Hill would like to see more businesses have partners not just for loans but for lawyers and other needs. So that the business can operate greater production, provide better service, and upgrade to help the environment. She also hopes to acquire new businesses partners with PNC bank. Julie Hill is most proud of helping Cleveland out, as she stated, “I’ve helped educate professionals about what Cleveland has to offer and the business industry.”  Hill is truly an example of a modern day Cleveland Renaissance person because of her vast contributions to the success of our city.
