One lesson to learn from these guys is to not be afraid to go to something bold, crazy, and interesting. Because we all can all agree that this is something project is bold, crazy, and interesting!

Tickets, check; backpack, check; lunch, check; bikes, check; camera, check. Okay! We are ready to ride the SkyLift!!! Wait… what exactly is the SkyLift? It’s the coolest ride ever… in your city!

Before you learn about SkyLift, I want you to meet Matt Volosin. Mr. Volosin got his education form Saint Ignatius High School, Miami University, & Cleveland State University. He has two kids, one four year old daughter, & one two year old son.

On Matt’s LinkedIn he put these down for his specialties “Executive Leadership, Organizational Transformations, Strategy, Cadence, Business Development, Innovation, Agile, Lean, Software, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Entrepreneur, Startups” and Matt described himself with an “Entrepreneurial talent for proactively identifying and capitalizing on opportunities; superior interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively build relationships and achieve business objectives.”

What is the SkyLift?

Have you ever been on or seen a circus wheel? Now imagine the circus wheel is not really a “wheel” but more of a line. It brings you place to place in a “car.” Now imagine a lot of those “circus lines” around the city’s hot spots.

Now you have a somewhat good idea of what the SkyLift is.

“The Cleveland SkyLift is an aerial cable car system that will connect you our lake front & parks, while providing a cutting-edge digital experience that will change the way our enjoy our city” says the Cleveland SkyLift website.

“It's a bold, innovative proposal that seems to be gaining momentum among northeast Ohio business and political leaders” says an article about SkyLift from the newsnet5 cleveland.

How does this SkyLift Work?

The SkyLift is an awesome machine that has many cool features that you will love. For example the safeties of the cable cars are incredible! In each cable car they have a camera that hears and sees what is going on. Worried about getting stranded during a power outrage? Don’t worry! Each cable car has a backup engine.

These cable cars work all year around. They have air conditioning & heating. The outside of the cars are supposed to be able withstand weather much greater and harsher then Cleveland’s weather.

The cars are very unique. There are big cars and small ones. The small ones can only holds about eight to ten people while the largest one can hold 200!!! Also bring you r pets! “Twenty percent of our cable cars will be pet friendly.” says the website1. Feel free to bring your bike, skateboard, etc., on the ride.

How about those Browns?! Cable cars are able to be added on to lessen the traffic say in a browns game. What is the cost of these rides? It only costs $3.50 for one ride or $7.00 for an all-day pass.

Where does the SkyLift ride go?

SkyLift has fourteen stations each in a hotspot of Cleveland. (The numbers in front of the stations are the same as on the map.)  To start the adventure in the SkyLift, start at the first station which is at Municipal lot. Then from (1) Municipal Lot, the adventure goes to the (2) Burke Lake Front Airport, then to the (3) North Coast Harbor.

At the (3) North Coast Harbor, the adventure goes to either the (4) Convention Center Hotel or the (5) Harbor West. From the Harbor West the SkyLift takes you to the (6) east Bank of the Flats. From The (6) east Bank of the Flats you can either take route A) (13) Wendy Park, which leads to (14) Edgewater Park, or route B) to the (7) West Bank of the Flats.

From the (7) west Bank of the Flats the journey goes to the (8) Canal Basin Park which goes to the (9) River Gate Park. The (9) River Gate Park it goes to the either the (10) Ohio City or the (11) Scranton Peninsula. The adventure finally ends from the (11) Scranton Peninsula it ends at the (12) Horseshoe Casino, Progressive Field.

That gives you a wonderful tour of the city.

Why should we care?

The SkyLift will create over 100 new jobs for those in Ohio who need them!

“SkyLift will staff two to six people per station per shift. SkyLift will run seven days a week and utilize two to three shifts a day.” Says the SkyLift website.1 “Were all geeks” says Joh.

“We have people who are on a computer all day working with software” says Matt “[SkyLift] is a company who likes to break the rules.”

Are fancy suits necessary? NO!!!! You can wear whatever is comfortable. Matt was wearing some khaki shorts, flip-flops, and a “beach shirt” and he said “This is the most dressed up I normally am.”

Plus the SkyLift will make downtown Cleveland a tourist attraction! Many more people will want to go down town. Help SkyLift by spreading the word, and visiting the website.

What can I learn from these guys?

I have learned a lot from these guys that very important. A) Don’t be afraid to go to something bold, crazy, and interesting. Because we all can all agree that this is something project is bold, crazy, and interesting! “Have the courage to go for some big crazy goal.” said Matt. B) If you have a dream, and it is really worth it then you will go to any cost to achieve it.  And C) Don’t underestimate the power of humans, you will be surprised what you can do.
